Delancey Chess Festival

Dear Chess Players and Supporters,
The first ever Delancey UK Schools Chess Festival was a complete success. The UK Chess Academy would like to thank all 56 Juniors chess players and parents for their support and attendance.
A massive thank you to Michael Basman, IM and Founder of UK Chess Challenge, Malcolm Pein, IM and Founder of Chess in Schools and Community, Akshaya Kalaiyalahan (12 years old) British Champion and Alex Golding (10 year old) UKCC Champion, who all played in our simultaneous display.
And finally a special thanks to our special guests Katharine Walsh and Olivia Gregory, from Delancey.
We hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as we did! All players took part in a simultaneous game against IM’s, British Champions and UKCC Champions, puzzle chess, press-up knock down chess, and attended a chess talk by national chess master James Coleman.
The Main tournament of 5 round swiss was organised by Amu Sainbayar with scoring system win 3, draw 2 and loss 1 point. William Golding and Robert Akeya-Price were Gold Medal winners scoring 15 and 14 points.
At the same time we managed to run a  5 round 5 minute Blitz tournament for strong Juniors including our special guests and some strong parents, using scoring system win 3, draw 1 and loss 0. After 5 rounds Mr Tumen Buyandalai, Trainer of the UK Chess Academy won the tournament with 13, ahead of IM M. Basman, who scored 12. The Bronze Medal was won by Kishan Pattni.
The Chess Festival was also our first event in starting to select and organise “The Delancey Chess Team”.
We will be publishing the selection policy and other conditions to play for Delancey Chess Team team shortly!
